• I am genuinely inspired by literally everything around me. And usually at the most inconvenient of times for my friends, family and loved ones. It's a sickness. I don't try to do it but sometimes, you know, you're at the Art museum, and you see a painting and the first thing that pops into my head is: I could make this painting into an Heirloom Tomato Pie. (Truly. This is how my inner monologue thinks.) It's fun and challenging but it keeps me true to who I am. Or maybe I'm watching the sunset with my Husband and at a particularly romantic moment, turn to him and say "I love the colors of the sky right now. What if I made those colors into an ice cream?"  Which, god bless him, makes him usually smile, shake his head and then plays along with my random thought. Which is why I'm going to marry him.

  • My hands get twitchy if I go too long without making something. I feel very disconnected and antsy unless I'm creating something or in the process of it. Which causes my kitchen to be chronically unclean and my brain always thinking 10 recipes ahead of what I'm actually making.

  • I despise eating almost ANYTHING green. Well, I should say anything that naturally occurs green. I'm trying to get over it, but it's an ongoing struggle. I don't like salads, i'll only take my spinach smothered in cheese and artichokes, broccoli makes me angry, pickles have terrible texture, and the very thought of eating anything called a Seaweed Crisp or a Kale Chip makes me want to dry heave. It's a process. Bear with me.

  • I am TERRIFIED of bees. Absolutely petrified. And so is my sister-in-law, so at least I have a friend in arms. We've been known to freak out on their boat when we see one, and go running down a dock looking for the nearest person to help us. We avoid flower bouquets while outdoors like the plague. So no, I will not be making any whimsical bee-related cupcakes or anything like that. Although I do like and appreciate honey, and use it frequently...I'm just not fond of the creatures that make it.

  • I read cookbooks like most people read newspapers or magazines. That is, daily and without any regard to where I'm at. I'll read them in the car (while my Husband is driving of course), I'll read them on a boat, plane, before I go to bed, and on my lunch breaks. I don't even need to be hungry. I could single-handedly keep the post-it company in business bc I use them for EVERY recipe I like. My Husband hates that he can't just put them all on a high shelf in the kitchen bc Id ask him to get them down every day.

  • My full-time job is in dentistry, and I work as an EFDA. It stands for Expanded Function Dental Auxillary. It's essentially working under the dentist and putting fillings in peoples teeth all day. I went to Case Western Reserve University Dental School in Cleveland, Ohio and I have to say dentistry is a true passion of mine. I love my job, and I love the people I get to work with every day. Dentistry is definitely part-art and part-science. Which, now that I think about it, is also why I love about cooking and baking.

  • I am a Ohio-girl, born and raised. I grew up on the east side of Cleveland, and now I live on the West side. I have spent every single summer for the last 7 years up in the Lake Erie Islands, that is, Catawba Island, Marblehead, South Bass, Middle Bass and Kelleys Island.  My Husbands family has a boat up there, and we go up almost every single weekend from the start of boating season until the very end of it. I  love exploring the area around me, and I am inherently passionate about all things local to the Ohio region. I have a tab on my blog for all things local, so if you're ever in my neck of the woods, you can learn more about the CleveLAND that I love.

  • I am Married to the man of my dreams. He's a physician at a local hospital here, and in his residency. But he's also been known to cook a bit and is (begrudgingly and much to his dismay) usually my dish-washer and kitchen cleaner, which I love him for. But he also gets to be my constant taste-tester, which I feels like should make up for all my messes. (Although I’m sure some days he would argue that, depending on how much of a disaster the kitchen is.)

  • I am a huge animal lover, and we currently have an adorable cat named Bug. Who pretty much rules the entire house and everyone in it. She’s the cutest thing ever, and I swear was at one time royalty in a past life. You’ll see lots of pictures of Her Majesty on my Instagram and Facebook feeds. She’s quite…prominent.

  • I am not a professional chef Nope, I am just a self-taught obsessed lover of all things food. Just like you. I started out cooking as something to occupy my brain when my Husband was gone for months in medical school. And slowly I realized this thing I started doing made a part of my soul happy in a way I didn’t even know I needed. So hopefully this little blog of mine will help somebody else out there feel the same way. Even if it’s just helping make you feel confident and proud of a dish that you made, or make you feel like the world’s a little less lonely when you have somebody else in it to bake or cook with. You can make amazing things you’re going to be proud of…and I’m here to help you do it.
